No matter what kind of a dog you have, one of the most difficult tasks you will be faced with is potty training your dog. As with kids, it takes time to potty train your dog and help them learn where the appropriate place to go to the bathroom is. If you are going to have any luck at all, you have to start by taking them out frequently.

Even and older newly adopted dogs, needs to know and get used to where it is you want them to go. Take them outside as much as possible and try to stay with them so they know this is where they are supposed to go. By staying with them you’ll make them feel comfortable and safe. They will soon realize that this is the place to do their business.

Although we all wish our puppies could hold it for an eight hour period, the fact of the matter is they cannot. It is up to you to keep an eye on your puppy as all it takes is a few seconds for them to do their business. By watching any warning signs or hints that they may need to go outside, you will be able to stop them before they go.

It is important you do not vary their diet while potty training your dog. This will create a change in their system which will ultimately fluctuate their bathroom cycle. Maintaining a consistent diet will help them get used to the food they are eating allowing their stomach to properly digest the food.

Although every parent wants to give their little puppy treats for being cute, make sure you are only giving them treats for going into the crate. Too many treats will mess with their diet as well. For this reason, keep your treat-giving to a minimum.

Something that many people do not do is associate their dog with the words “go outside!” It is imperative you take your dog on walks to give them more exercise. Every time you are going to take them for a walk, you want to ask them if they want to go outside. In addition, learn to say this every time you let them out to go to the bathroom. This will help them realize it is time to go to the bathroom.

The last tip to help you with potty training your dog is praising them every time they do go outside. Reinforcing good behavior will help them realize where the appropriate place to go to the bathroom is. Punish them for going inside and praise them when they alert you that they need to go outside.

If you changed their diet, didn’t let them out on schedule or something frightened them, a “mistake” is understandable and you have no one to blame but yourself. Use your common sense, a few small, healthy rewards and lots of hugs and kisses and you’ll have your puppy potty trained in no time.

If your dog’s behavior persists or get worse, you might want to call in the top guns. Check out other in-depth training practices that will teach you much more than the basics covered here.

If you do own an overly aggressive dog that is rather shy, it is important you begin working with them as soon as possible. The last thing you want to happen is have your dog harm another dog, a child, or even someone within your own family. Here are four dog training tips to give a try before making the decision to have them put down.

Does your pup go nuts when you come across another dog while out on a nice stroll? This is not only annoying and embarrassing, but dangerous for your dog too. Too much pulling and barking and high blood pressure is going to be harmful to your dog in the long run. Your pup needs to learn some self-confidence.

1. Training sessions The first thing you want to do is build the confidence and security of your dog by setting up training sessions. Every dog is going to have some kind of fear whether it is other people on walks, kids running around, or other dogs approaching them. For this reason, you want to set up a controlled environment to ease this tension. You can have a friend meet up with you when you go on a walk and have the friend give your dog a treat. Things like this will help them become comfortable.

2. Start socializing Usually the site of other dogs will set off an aggressive dog, causing him to throw a fit. This bad behavior can be controlled and you can teach them to get along with other dogs. Start by going to a dog friendly place like a park or trail where you will encounter other dogs that are calm and happy. Keep him on a short leash when you meet up and if you see your dog getting upset, tug sharply on the leash, but don’t run off. They need to learn that other dogs are not a threat and that they can have fun if they learn to play nice.

3. Steer clear of aggressive puppies and grown up dogs Do everything in your power to stay clear of other aggressive dogs, ie: don’t take your pup to visit your friend who may have an aggressive one, or if you encounter an aggressive dog on your walk, don’t walk that way again. Try only to introduce them to calm friendly dogs and in time they will learn they have nothing to fear and relax a bit more.

4. Consider a Muzzle If your dog is really aggressive, snarling and scaring little children and old men you might want to consider a muzzle during your initial training sessions. Your dog will become accustomed to it in a short time. To help him ease into the muzzle, put in on him in the backyard or when you’re playing with him. He will come to accept it and in time you can remove it as he improves.

The most important thing to remember with any form of dog training is consistency! No person or pup is going to learn something if they don’t know what it is they are supposed to be learning. It`s true what they say, practice makes perfect.

The first thing to do when you bring your new pup home is to make them feel safe and comfortable. Introduce them to the entire home and family members, the yard and also the neighborhood. It’s important they socialize and start basic training immediately. Many people swear by the crate training technique. Some dog owners adore it, while other people couldn’t imagine putting their pup in a crate. Here’s a few tips to help make up your mind.

This is one of the most effective ways you will introduce your puppy or dog to the new home. The reason this is so efficient is because it uses the natural instinct of the dog to achieve what you are hoping to accomplish rather than you forcing them to do something.

As with every type of training, consistency is most important. You’ll need to start a training program that will help you learn how your dogs functions and show him where and when you want him to do it.

Throughout the process, it is vital you praise your dog every time they go to the bathroom at the right time in the right spot. This will help them understand they have done a good job which will lead to them doing it the right way every time.

The basic premise of crate training is to keep them confined when there is no supervision. Your dog should be placed in their crate every night or when they are at home by themselves. Your first job in the morning upon waking, or when you come home from where ever is you were, is to enthusiastically greet them, let them out of their crate, and take them outside to go to the bathroom.

Crating a dog is meant to help them, to not abuse them by ignoring or forgetting about them. For the most part a dog won’t soil where he sleeps, but he also can’t hold it in forever. Leaving you pup crated for a lengthy period of time will most certainly lessen the effect of your potty training, not mention it borders on abuse.

Another tip to get results out of your crate training is to associate pleasant rewards and good things with good behavior. If you provide them with a treat or a toy after they have gone to the bathroom in the right spot, they will learn that good things come from going to the bathroom at the right time in the right place.

You have to understand that you are going to deal with accidents in the beginning phases as it takes time for them to learn. Make sure you do not punish them too harshly, but firmly let them know what they did was bad. This way they learn but do not become afraid of what you will do to harm them. Just understand that crate training is an extremely effective way to go about training a dog.

It's time to air out those sleeping bags, clean out last year's coolers and pack up your vehicle. Summer's here and camping season is upon us. What should we do with the dogs?

It’s time to air out those sleeping bags, clean out last year’s coolers and pack up your vehicle. Summer’s here and camping season is upon us. What should we do with the dogs?

Here are a couple of simple ideas and safeguards you are able to make sure that this year’s woodsy adventures are worry and injury free. Before we even arrive at our destination, here are a couple of things we ought to consider: Make sure to have your dog’s ID tags are secure and up-to-date. Get a vaccination for flea and tick shots is needed. It’s wise to setup your tent outside a few days ahead, this will let you practice camping together with your pet so he feels safe inside the tent. Make certain pets are permitted in the campground and inquire into the nearest vet.

Although you’re living in the wilderness you nonetheless would like to have some comforts and so does your dog. It’s critical that they’ve got some of their favorite items, no matter if it is a blanket, a toy or foods dishes.

A visit to the Take this into consideration your camping neighbors and provide a secure tether for your dog and a muzzle if necessary. Dogs have a tendency to wrap themselves around any tree, table, car or piece of firewood, a good idea is providing a large secure playpen, and a playpen can be moved around to keep them out of the sun.vet for flea and tick shots is in order.

Much like us, dogs must have their mattress elevated and cannot sleep directly on the cold ground through the night. They should also be protected against the sun’s rays and warmth. Just like you would not leave your pet locked in a vehicle for long on the hot day, don’t leave him alone in a tent, the final results are identical. Just a little pup tent or perhaps a child’s blow up pool are great ways to keep both pets and youngsters happy and cool.

Also, make sure you’ve a secure spot for your pet in case of scary noises that may possibly scare them such as thunder or fireworks. Certainly use their crate if they already have one or I’ve found that the car works as a safe place.

Now that you’ve broke camp, and have the firewood stacked, you’re ready to loosen up! Not so fast – there’s lots of things out there for you to be wary of. You must watch your pet as you would a small kid. Listed here are a few hazards to view out for:

FOOD – We tend to be more relaxed and eat more junk food camping than we would at home. We leave food lying about, accessible to dogs & kids (the difference between these two is that dogs are much faster and sneakier). Dogs have sensitive digestive tracks and get sick much easier from fatty foods that are foreign to them.

GARBAGE – It goes without saying, keep it away from them. I have known dogs who have eaten whole cobs of corn, which got stuck in their digestive track and had to be surgically removed. We had a Beagle/Chihuahua mix that ate anything. Once we poured bacon grease in the bushes which was wrong, and of course he licked up the grease and ended up getting all sorts of stones and twigs in his belly. That was an expensive vet bill and put an end to any fun on that trip.

FIRE – Do not throw food in the fire. There\s a big chance that it could not burn up entirely which is an animal attraction, but also there could still be glowing embers in the fire and burn their noses, mouth or feet.

TERRAIN – Clear your site of sharp sticks and stones. If you wouldn’t walk on it, do you think your dog wants to? Canine booties are a very good idea if you plan on hiking.

OK, you are all set up at camp and now it is time to get back to nature. What dangers might lurk in the woods you ask?

INSECTS & TICKS – Short coated animals are just as prone to mosquito bites as we are and should really have their own insect repellent. Ticks are a threat to your dog’s health. A tick vaccine or collar will aid but you will need to do manual checks and if you find one, pick it off with sharp tweezers.

POISON IVY – Although dogs aren’t much impacted by poison ivy, the oil the plant secretes will get and stays in your dog’s fur and gets in everything he touches or touches him (you!) Clean him off frequently with mild cleaning soap or shampoo putting on rubber mitts.

WILDLIFE – The reality is, avoid them and get your dog in check. If he’s attacked by a skunk, run to the lake for repeated scrubs with mild cleaning soap or skunk. Porcupine quills would be best left to a vet to get rid of.

WATER ACCIDENTS – If you are on any kind of boat or floatation device, and away from the shoreline you ought to have a PFD (life jacket) for your pet, particularly if your dog is in not so good physical condition or unaccustomed to swimming.

Your best bet, while camping is to always have a first help kit available for yourself and your pet. There are special kits made especially for pets. At least have the basics; rubbing alcohol, tweezers, scissors and bandages. Those stretchy roll up bandages are great for wrapping over fur.

In summary, don’t let this advise scare you away from camping with your pet. If anything, it should help make your outdoor experience even better. I have had so much fun over the years camping with my family and would never dream of leaving Henri and Bear behind, they are part of the family too!

Dogs will be dogs Dogs are very loving by nature. They have attachment towards all things whether they are materials or humans. So long as their personal space is secure they are very lovable. If you intrude into the space they will become aggressive. Resource guarding is technically protection of space which belongs to the dog. More than attacking the person, the dog is merely trying to safeguard a territory.

Observe your dog Feeling the need to call something their own seems to be present in the dogs more than in men. Men seldom fight over things which have little use to them. Dogs on the other hand will develop attachment to discarded items and old bones. Resource guarding for dogs thus extends to those things which may be amusing to man. When you approach a dog you will be able to see its mental disposition by observing the stance it takes. If it growls, it is resource guarding; if it does not mind your presence then it is exhibiting normal behavior.

Social hierarchy If the strongest only survive why do the weak exist? The social strata have evolved apposition and kind of responsibility for each of the members in their social hierarchy. Dogs are survivors and they survived only because they have a strong sense of belonging. Man is more cautious and will often question and think about the various things involved in his decision. Many times dogs will be seen fighting over the right to mate and over a morsel of bread. Men will walk around an argument and this kind of settlements will place him higher or lower in the ranks of his social standing. Dogs will accept you into their circle only if you seem to belong to that level at which he or she belongs. Similar to the behavior of men, one is tempted to argue.

Use of pecking order The dogs are used to having someone in command and will follow a certain pattern in which they hunt and feed and even mate. When they feel that their turn in the order is being snatched away from them, they will turn aggressive. When someone in the family makes something which undermines the rank of the dog, then the dog will reciprocate by trying to reassert his right in the social order. It may be a simple baring of the teeth, but one has to keep a look out for such signs.

Use of trainers The best trainers will have a very close relationship with the dogs. They will have a stepped kind of program which will help the dogs and provide them with the necessary exercise as well. Doing things a little a day is very necessary as only then will the dogs enjoy themselves. Use of incentives is effective for dogs which are very young or which are really friendly. Stricter measures like putting the dog in a corner for some time will work some times. If you are able to get under his resistance to obedience then you have found a way to correct things and bring them the way it should be. Bring them into the family circles and teach them the order in which the various members are. They may not understand it at first but gradually will begin to understand how the entire thing works.

Professional have better knowledge Even though you would like to train the dog yourself, you would be better off if you were to seek the professional help. These are people who are experts at finding the correct thing which is necessary for your dog. Bringing the dog in to the fold is important and making them feel one with the family is an effort you will have to make yourself. Gathering information about the dog and the trainer is very important to maintaining relationships on a smooth plane. You will benefit if your dog will benefit. And the family can then have a lot of fun.

Dogs are mans best friend, but Dog Behavior can sometimes be mystifying and a challenge. The best place to understanding Dog Behavior can be found in our Secrets To Dog Training Updated program.

Separation anxiety is a state of mind where the dependant fears being separated from its supporter. Dog is the best friend a man will ever have. This point is emphasized by numerous everyday sayings which show the characteristics which are common to both man and dog. Pet owners the world over would go to the end of the world, for the sake of their pet. They are among the best watchmen and their skills in various fields like hunting and fetching have made them indispensable to many pet owners. The dogs become too attached to their owners and this leads to a kinds of disorder known as anxiety disorder.

Dogs resort to digging because of their innate need to hide things. This is also related to their talents in assisting the hunter while fetching the kill. Some dogs become addicted to digging because they have too much time on their hands and will probably dig even inside the house. They will rip up the carpet and books, in the manner of digging.

The problems of the dog must be seen through the eyes of the dog to really understand it. These pack animals have a tendency to congregate, much like humans. Where the communication lines differ is in the way the senses work. The dogs smell each other out before they see the other. Humans tend to use sound and sight to communicate. So, when a dog is barking, it means he has smelt someone he knows. Training your dog is therefore a problem which will be best handled by those who understand the psychology of the dogs, the professionals. They know which breed needs to be taught to heel and which one needs to be taught not to jump on others.

Excessive energies of dogs often help in the development anxiety disorders. Their excessive energies need to be channelized if you are to have a lovable pet in the house. Sometimes, some scents may trigger of their excitement and you will find them tearing around the yard as if it is on fire. Some dogs may become very attached to their owners and will prevent them from leaving the house in the mornings. This behavior is noticeable among those who like to exercise and take their dog along. It is a matter of priorities, and if you were to put things in their proper places you will notice how easily the problem is solved.

Big dogs like Great Danes and St.Bernards dislike confined spaces. The concrete confines of the city may make them miserable. Similarly sporting dogs such as Irish Setters and Retrievers may need a lot of exercising to keep them in a healthy shape. It is necessary for you to realize one thing when you are training your dog. It understands leadership much more than love and sympathy. It is way the senses are oriented.

Letting your dogs to walk around and fraternize with other dogs is alright. You will however need to keep a watch over them when they are in heat, or when they are having disease. Ornamental dogs need extra care and grooming. Big dogs eat a lot and need a lot of space. They also need a lot of exercise and plenty of attention when they are sick. Communicating with the pets will seem impossible if you try to achieve it overnight. However, if you space your training, to get the responses you need, over a period of time you will probably succeed. Be sure to let your pet know that it is alright to feel happy, and show it sometimes too.

Is Your Dog sufferring from Separation Anxiety. There are many reasons for Separation Anxiety and you can find the answers and solve your dogs issues with our leading dog training program.

Large breeds of dogs get a bum rap for being aggressive, violent animals, but in quite a few cases, it is really small breed dogs that really bite. Smaller dogs’ reputation as adoring, cuddly, cute companions might be deserved, however a badly handled small dog is often much more unsafe than a pit bull. Knowing the factors behind aggressive dog behavior can help owners lower the chances of their dog harming someone and help stop the aggression altogether.

As funny as it might sound, lots of smaller dogs really do suffer from insecurity because of their size. In the event you observe aggressive dog behavior only if people are standing or walking around, odds are, your dog is fearful of being stepped or sat on. Be very careful to not pick up or coddle your dog when it starts barking at people walking by; it may identify that as a reward, and instead of calming down, will just become even more obnoxious. As an alternative, remove the dog from the area while individuals are moving around and pay no attention to the barking. Permit the dog back into the room only after it has quieted down and everyone is sitting down.

Another typical reason small dogs tend to bite is because they have been mistreated by a prior owner. This is especially true of dogs that are naturally loud and “yappy.” Once again, the very best option is to take the dog from the area and ignore any efforts to get your attention until finally your dog is quiet. Provide a quiet, safe place from which your dog can watch you and your guests until it decides that nobody is really a threat.

Charging is actually an aggressive dog behavior that should never be tolerated for any kind of reason. Smaller dogs will often charge at people they don’t know, and even close members of the family, to display their dominance. Under no circumstances permit your dog to dominate a human! Address charging swiftly and firmly; keep a spray bottle of water near the door and any other place in which charging is very likely, and use it. Spray the dog directly in the face and tell it, “no,” in a loud, clear voice. Water will surprise the dog, and it will soon find out that charging is inappropriate. If this technique seems cruel, bear in mind that small dogs could be killed by a single kick by a terrified child.

Although mouthing could be playful in some dogs, and is usually harmless, dogs must learn that using their teeth on a person is completely wrong. Mouthing can sometimes cause accidental biting, particularly when smaller children are playing with your dog, which means that all mouthing, nipping, and biting need to be discouraged. If licking is satisfactory in your household, you can encourage licking instead of biting by placing butter, bacon grease, or salad dressing on your hands. Allow your dog to lick it off, yet move away and say, “no,” if the dog tries to nip or mouth you. Eventually, your dog will learn that biting results in losing a treat, and will quit trying to bite.

For dogs who are truly out of control, skilled training is the next step. A good trainer will work with you and your dog to establish the causes of the aggression, and will then work one step at a time to train your pet to behave. As a final resort, however, some dogs may require regular medication to control their behavior. In the event that training does not help, speak to the vet about prescribing a mild sedative, and buy a good kennel to keep your guests safe.

A lot of people love a new puppy, with their cuteness and soft fur, but most people do not look forward to one of the main things associated with a new pet, which is potty training. For many pet owners, and pets, this process can prove to be frustrating.

While some techniques for training your puppy may work well for you, they may not work very well for other people.

For example: Some old-school ways of training involve crude ways to try and let the dog know that it has done something bad, but how would a dog know that?

Some people use methods such as rubbing the dogs nose in the mess, which seems to rarely work for many people and is considered inhumane.

The simple truth is this. Your dog has no idea that he is doing something wrong, because a dog does not live his life thinking that way. It seems impossible to think that a pet would walk into a new house and start using the bathroom on the carpet to be “bad”, don’t you agree?

Very simply put, a dog does not have a way of knowing that the bathroom is outside, so if he has to go, he will pick a spot that seems perfect at that moment, but not out of spite.

While house training can be a real pain for a lot of pet owners, it is a necessary evil that you must deal with when you bring a new pet into the house.

Working with a pet, and paying attention to its habits is a great way to get to know him, and also a great way to find out which habits would be better off broken.

When potty training a puppy dog, it is helpful to keep these tips in mind:

* Realize that your dog has no idea of what right or wrong is, and that accidents are bound to happen

* Try to use a feeding and/or walking schedule with your dog. A schedule will help him use the bathroom at the same times, and in the same general places.

* Using a clicker – This can teach the dog that a behavior followed by a clicking sound can come with a reward, or perhaps a punishment.

A puppy that is well-trained and happy will be much better of a pet to you than one that does whatever comes to his mind at will. Correcting behavioral issues now, can lead to a much happier partnership later for you and your new pet.

Welcoming a brand new puppy into the family is a really exciting experience. Dog owners across the world can attest to the fact that there’s absolutely nothing that can compare with the love and affection a dog can give to its people. Even so, a puppy will need to be taught certain rules that it must comply with to continue to keep a harmonious relationship with its people. This article reveals a number of basic puppy training guidelines to help out new puppy owners.

The initial thing to be done for a new puppy would be to have him looked at by a vet to ensure that its shots are complete and that it’s healthy enough to undergo a training program. One of the basic points that dog owners must know is that dogs thrive on routine. So with regards to potty training there needs to only be one designated spot for each specific activity such as an eating place, a toilet place, and also a sleeping place.

There has to be a specific routine of walking, feeding, and training your puppy. Water and food will need to be monitored closely simply because overfeeding it will result in the untimely requirement to relieve themselves. The very first thing to invest in when one is giving basic puppy training is an adjustable collar and a three-in-one training leash. Toys and chewable treats should additionally be readily available at all times.

Puppies tend to learn quite quickly, especially if the training entails good encouragement and correction approaches. Once the puppy does a behavior properly the person should reward it by giving the puppy a few treats or by simply saying “good boy” or “good girl” even while gently stroking its fur. The most vital issue here is timing. The reward should be offered immediately after the behavior is carried out to make sure that the puppy understands that he should duplicate that behavior in order to receive a reward. Humans will need to in addition be firm with regards to basic puppy training. You should only give treats when a behavior is performed properly and not too much, for example when it offers you that adorable puppy look.

In regards to potty training one of the most preferred methods is paper training. That is done by spreading old newspapers in the areas in which the puppy usually relieves itself. For the first few times the puppy will probably miss the spot however, if the human keeps a soiled newspaper in the chosen toilet location the puppy will have the tendency to sniff out the smell and follow it. It is going to then recognize that this particular spot is where it should do its business.

People must realize that it takes awhile for puppies to fully grasp the rules in the house. So a lot of patience and commitment is necessary to properly train it. Humans just need to stretch their patience out a little more and gradually the efforts will pay off.
