First instalment of diet vs. exercise where Craig Ballantyne and Brad Pilon show you how ineffective cardio is and just how dramatic your calorie intake can be without you knowing it.
The simple truth is; you can’t out-train a bad diet.
Today, in this contest, Craig Ballantyne is going to run on the treadmill on an incline of .5 and a speed of 10.5 mph for 3 minutes, while Brad Pilon eats pizza and drinks soda pop.
Brad is going to try to consume as many calories as he can in those 3 minutes, while Craig is going to see how many calories he can burn off in that same amount of time.
In 3 minutes, Brad consumed approximately 1000 total calories, while Craig burned only 43 calories.
Cardio loses against diet.
This just goes to show you, in diet vs. exercise, you can never out train a bad diet. It doesn’t matter how good your program is, if this is your nutrition, you’re not going to lose fat.

@aldoivan16 That …
@aldoivan16 That is FALSE. High intensity cardio boosts your metabolism for a few hours after the fact. However, EPOC, or the “afterburn effect,” as its called, is greatly overstated. But it does exist to a certain degree.
puts it in …
puts it in perspective for sure
Mmm… Pizza
Mmm… Pizza
nevermind…. wrong …
nevermind…. wrong video to comment on lol, this video explained everything.
Is cardio better …
Is cardio better for fat burning? I hear excersise has a much smaller impact on fat burning compared to diet (True or False?)
And I’ve been looking at diets and all I know is to keep my caloric intake around 2150 calories (215×10) and get 215 grams of protein a day which seems impossible.. what about fat grams doesn’t fat also aid in burning fat itself??? So confused!
Interesting stuff!

@aldoivan16 it was …
@aldoivan16 it was once thought that only weight training had a lasting increase on increasing met but cardio is shown to as well – however not as much. essentially it is the lean mass (muscle ) that increases a persons metabolism of fat and calories but cardio can to through thermogenics and increased heart rate. Paraphrasing of course but it’s worth reading some of the studies out there – but who is to say what’s dead-on. But good counterpoint. HIIT is essentially jusr combining the two…
@ll0II0ll plenty …
@ll0II0ll plenty studies show/prove this is totally wrong. Calorie deficiency leads the body to slower metabolism and promotes storage of calories. The treshold is around 300 calories below your daily requirement. 89%bf is impossible – they’d be dead way before.
@jonpaulevans …
@jonpaulevans cardio increases the body`s metabolism? im pretty sure thats wrong. Weight training increases the body`s metabolism throughout the day as the body repairs the ripped muscle fibers, Cardio stops working for you the moment you get off the treadmill pretty much. Anyway, HIIT is the way to go when it comes to combining weight training with cardio. Cheers!
that guy is …
that guy is retarded.the way it works is if you have a 500 calorie deficit in your diet.
Interesting that …
Interesting that the “avoid long boring cardio” guy chose cardio to illustrate this point.
Wtf? Under 500 …
Wtf? Under 500 calories? That’s borderline anorexic.

Diet is around a …
Diet is around a million times better and more efficient for muscle building, fat burn and weight loss in general than exercise if I remember correctly.You can be up to 500 pounds and have a bodyfat percentage of 89%, and if you consume under 500 calories a day whilst getting enough nutrition to survive, in about 3 years, you will be ripped with minimal exercise.Although consuming so little calories at random with a super-large stomach and a taste for sweets is impossible unless you’re psychotic
this is hilarious
this is hilarious
I eat whatever I …
I eat whatever I want whenever I want six times a day, Pizza, Chicken, Tuna, Steak ect.
yet I pretty much always maintain my body weight no matter what~!
I weight train 3 ~ 4 times a week and run 4 times a week, if you calculated the calories I eat vs burnt I should be a fat ass, but like others have said your body will burn alot of calories just by being even slightly active. Also it helps that every time I eat I think protein first If possible I avoid meals that are overly carby.
@EVILTRIPS666 thats …
@EVILTRIPS666 thats quite a discrepency -I’ll have to look it up. We burn hundreds of calories a day just being moderately busy – and not even working out. The point is that cardio activity increases the body’s metabolism and thus burns more calories more efficiently throughout the day.
haha. this is …
haha. this is awesome.
they say you will …
they say you will only burn 12-15 calories for the rest of the day after a 400 cal workout… More for weight training, like 50 in total.
its consuming 1400 …
its consuming 1400 calories a day
Awesome video you …
Awesome video you have !!! Keep up the nice work: By the waY visit my videos okie !!!
our body continues …
our body continues to burn fat for hours and hours after cardio – sure you burn 200 calories in a good cardio session but throughout the day you’ll continue to burn hundreds more and not feel the need to eat as much. The point they are showing is how important it is to eat right.
you misunderstood …
you misunderstood what the video is trying to prove. your illogical and plain stupid.
