and you’re not getting the point…his point is not to worry about counting because you want to focus more on what you feel more than what count you’re on. He says you need to think more on the exercise you’re doing now rather than a 6-8 ab routine.

That’s Not what he means. If you focus on counting your entire workout, you will only do your set workout. But you may need more. Just worry about getting muscles worked not counting how many reps you do.
