Busting Washboard Abs Myths
Abdominal exercises may shrink your middle and get rid of body fat, but there are some myths you should ignore if a six pack is your goal.
The first myth is that you need some sort of expensive machine to work your abs to their greatest potential. Please do not throw away any money on such worthless equipment, they are absolutely unnecessary.
The next myth that we should focus on is that you need to do hundreds of crunches to get six pack abs. All of the abdominal muscles are not trained by crunches, and those that are get only light stimulation.
Another myth is that starvation diets work to get fat off your abdominals. Starvation diets really cause your body to feed on the very muscle you are trying to grow.
The last myth is that it is possible that some pill can give you a flat stomach. There is no such magical pill, don’t squander your money because of fancy advertisements. If you eat right, get enough sleep, and workout well you will get the body you want.
Now that these myths are busted, how do you get the abdominals you want?
There are several muscle building and/or fat loss workouts that will help you lose your belly fat and build your abdominals. See these reviews for The Truth About Six Pack Abs and Turbulence Training. There are many other programs out there – if you think you need some assistance beyond this article, find a program that is right for you. The most important thing in any program is that it suits your lifestyle so you will do it. For right now, let’s concentrate on the main components of a six pack ab workout.
You should realize that no matter how much weight you lose no abdominals will be seen unless you increase those abs using a good exercise program. All muscles, even abdominal muscles, will grow if you tax the muscle fibers then give them an optimal rest time. Then you exercise them again. You will get the best results if you do this routine in the correct sequence and frequency.
Sequence
The muscles that are priority to you should be worked first in your workout. Your abdominal exercises should be first in your routine if you want to build a six pack.
Frequency
Rest time depends on workout intensity – the higher the intensity the more rest is required. Abs will only get large with a very intense workout, so you should do high intensity workouts only a few times a week. Plan to do two to four intense workouts each week, the rest time in between those workouts will give your muscles time to recouperate and grow. Remember to really see a six pack, you should train all of your ab muscles: upper abs, lower abs and obliques.
